We aim to understand and explore the role of economics in today’s world and how it impacts on us and our society. In practice this means members researching and presenting a topic that interests them. This has included topics like GDP, who owns Ilkley high street and can Black rock save the UK. In addition to the presented topics we allow about 30 minutes in each session to discuss an economics topic that is in the news. During the Summer break we are considering a Virtual Investment Club. This would be a short course group meeting in a pub about monthly and closing at the end of August. Members would select a few shares to buy and sell with a virtual £5,000 and the trades recorded by Neil. We can discuss the various tools and techniques that are used to select shares like Momentum Trading and price/earnings ratio. |

Times: |
Every 2 weeks, Monday afternoons from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. From 10 February we have 5 more sessions with the last one on 7 April. At this meeting we will discuss plans for resuming after the summer break. |
| Cost: | Current members have paid £20 to cover the cost of the last 7 sessions. New joiners this spring are asked to contribute £3 per sessions for those sessions they attend. |
