WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY A VOYAGERS’ DAY OUTING visiting two contrasting places of interest on either side of lunch? We invite you to discover more about THE ENTREPRENEURS OF YORK IN MEDIEVAL TIMES AND INTO THE FUTURE, by visiting with us the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall and Stockbridge Technology Centre.

A Merchant Adventurer was someone who risked or ‘adventured’ his or her own money in overseas trade bringing back goods and wealth to York. This magnificent guildhall was constructed in 1357 by a fraternity made up of York citizens to provide a base for charity, worship and business in the centre of the city by the River Foss. One of the finest guildhalls in the country, it is now a Grade 1 listed building. We shall have morning coffee here, and a guided tour.

Lunch: Our buffet lunch will be at the Ship Inn, Acaster Malbis, pleasantly situated on a bend in the River Ouse.

Stockbridge Technology Centre (at Cawood, near Selby) was launched in 2001 to ensure continued technological development for the horticultural industry, producing maximum yields and sustained quality. The 67 hectare farm develops cutting-edge practices, tests growing substrates and fertilisers, and much more. The Centre’s first multi-tiered LED lit urban farm was opened in 2012 for year-round production of crops. We shall have a guided tour of the site, ending with tea/coffee.

Coaches are now banned from York city centre. Our coach must park at St George’s field from where it is a 6 minute walk to our first venue.

Price £45.70: Includes coach transport, morning coffee & biscuits, guided tours of both venues, lunch, and all gratuities.

Refunds: If the trip is cancelled due to insufficient take up, or you cancel before 30 June the fee will be refunded. If you cancel after 30 June but before 21 July a refund will be made for entrance fees and refreshments. The remainder of the fee will also be refunded if we can resell your place.
